Stephen Viccica and Toby Grzenda combined on a two-hitter as Blakely emerged from the losers’ bracket of the 10-year-old state Babe Ruth tournament with a 4-2 victory over host Brookhaven at Scotts Park. Viccica worked the first three innings and allowed one hit and two unearned runs. Grzenda yielded one hit and no runs over the final three innings. Grzenda also broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single and later scored to provide an insurance run. … Old Forge did all its scoring in the first two innings and hung on for a 5-4 victory over Compass in a Collegiate Summer Baseball League postseason tournament game. Winning pitcher Mark Kalinoski scattered eight hits and struck out 11 for Old Forge, which struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on two more runs in the second. … Trish Tolerico of Throop captured the gold medal in Junior Female Division golf at the 15th Keystone State Summer Games in Harrisburg. She shot a two-day total of 186 at the Hershey South Golf Course. Tolerico fired an 89 on Day 1 and a 97 on Day 2 to win gold by four shots.

McKenna completed 4 of 6 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns and Bishop O’Hara’s Sean Madden had 80 yards rushing and a touchdown on 16 carries, as the City beat the County, 40-7, in the 72nd Dream Game. … Winning pitcher Eric Grabowski struck out 16 to lead Lakeland to a 4-2 victory over Dalton in a City/County Little League game. Eric Laytos had two hits, including a home run, for Dalton. … Winning pitcher Connor Fultz tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and added two hits at the plate to lead Old Forge (Pagnotti Coal) to a 10-6 win over South Side. John Rafferty had four hits, including a double and a home run, Gary Pucket had three hits, including a home run, and Bubba Tomasetti had a double for Old Forge. … A.J. Agostinelli tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead Carbino Club (Sebastianelli’s) to a 2-0 win over Jefferson Twp. Corey Bailleau had two hits, including a double, and Brandon Bednash and Tyler Phillips each had a single in Carbino Club’s victory.

Archbald scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, as the Section 5 champion defeated DuBois, 13-1, in four innings to capture the Pennsylvania Little League 10-11 softball title at Fairchance Little League. Riley Cunningham had three hits and four RBIs, and Natalie Borosky added four RBIs for Archbald, which outscored its opponents, 108-2, through the district, sectional and state playoffs. Maranda Runco finished the postseason with a 9-0 record and had 37 strikeouts in four state-playoff wins. … Anthony Tooson hit a two-run double as South Scranton 948 beat Dickson City Post 665, 4-0, in the final game of the District 11 Senior Legion baseball championship series. P.J. Mandarano had two hits for Dickson City. … Cayden Merrifield threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and also homered to lead West Scranton to an 11-1 win over Connell Park in the District 17/32 City-County Little League baseball tournament.
