Woman rescued after plunging around 20 feet during staircase collapse in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH —
A woman was rescued after she fell around 20 feet from a partially collapsed staircase in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Services and Pittsburgh Fire were called to the 2500 block of Mission Street Sunday for an exterior staircase that had partially collapsed.
When first responders arrived, they found a woman who had fallen between 20 to 25 feet to the ground below.
Crews were able to rescue the woman using a rope system and get her to safety. The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries to her lower body.
Building inspectors were called in to assess the safety and integrity of the structure after the collapse.
Officials say residents will not be required to vacate at this time.
