A masked and hooded Scranton man riding a moped weaved between vehicles as he fled from Taylor police, according to a criminal complaint.
Adoni Dan Genao Vasquez, 21, of 1207 S. Main Ave., Apt. 1, is charged with attempting to elude a police officer.
Officer Matthew McDonald spotted Vasquez on a red moped July 24 around 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of North Main Street. Vasquez was driving erratically and illegally passing vehicles on the right, according to the complaint.
McDonald attempted to stop the moped, but Vasquez accelerated while pulling a mask and hood over his face.
As McDonald approached Main and Davis streets, he saw Vasquez stopped in heavy traffic while attempting to make a left turn.
McDonald pulled behind the moped and Vasquez pulled over.
Vasquez admitted he saw the police lights and heard the siren, but said he was trying to get to work, according to the complaint.
He also faces summary counts of careless driving, unsafe passing and driving outside a traffic lane.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Aug. 31 before District Judge George Seig.
