Philadelphia will enjoy a break from the oppressive humidity Tuesday as a mix of sunshine and clouds pushes afternoon temperatures into the upper 80s.
Heat and humidity will quickly return Wednesday, bringing the chance for heavy afternoon thunderstorms capable of producing brief flooding in poor drainage and low-lying area towards the early afternoon.
The unsettled pattern continues through the end of the workweek with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing each afternoon as warm, moisture-rich air remains in place.
While there will be plenty of dry hours, any storm that forms could produce torrential downpours, gusty winds and dangerous lightning.
