READING, Pa. – A shooting in the Reading Tuesday evening sent two people to the hospital, according to the Reading Police Department.
Police crowded the intersection of Moss and Marion streets just after 6:30 p.m. following a report of gunfire. A witness told 69 News she heard what she thought was a balloon popping, but then she heard it five more times.
That’s when she realized it was gunshots.
Another witness said he saw two cars come down from 10th Street. After hearing gunshots, he heard a loud crash and saw a car smashed into a parked black pickup truck.
On the scene, you could see the rear window shattered. Witnesses said they saw a man being pulled out of the car and taken away in an ambulance. Another witness said he saw a man run from the scene down an alleyway to the nearby McDonald’s.
The owner of the truck, Roy Fortier, said he was in a store when it happened.
“Two people came out of the establishment and said there was gunfire, and they ran back inside, and one girl said, ‘No, there’s not,’ and she ran outside, and this is what transpired,” Fortier said. “There’s my truck on the sidewalk, and I guess somebody got shot.”
Police say two victims are currently being treated for gunshot wounds. Police have not confirmed suspects.
No further information has been released by police at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
