He seized onto a loose ball in the 65th minute after Jenson Mantell’s shot had slipped from keeper Jake Simpson’s grasp.
The Sumas, who had won 2-1 at Hilltop on Saturday, were reduced to 10 men from the 39th minute when Junior Da Cruz was shown a straight red card following a challenge on Ellis Cowd.
The first half ended with City also down to 10 men with Shane Cooper-Clark sent to the sin-bin.
Wokingham battled hard to get back into the game, but could not find a way past keeper Charlie York in the home goal.
“It was pleasing to get our first three points on the board. Everyone played their part in a real squad effort,” said manager Simon Johnson.
“Wokingham made it tough for us, but after they went down to 10 men it was about finding a moment to win the game.
“Having found that moment and gone one-nil up, we defended brilliantly and showed real desire to keep a clean sheet.”
Alfie Grant, who has returned to the club, was named man of the match.
The Cityzens were bouncing back from a 2-1 defeat at Harefield on Saturday.
They were given the boost of a third-minute goal from Riley Denny, who was first to react as the ball ran loose following a Stefan Brown shot. The ball was in the Harefield net again midway through the half, but Lewis Hayden’s effort was ruled out for offside.
The Hares were quick out of the blocks in the second half, and Montel Brown equalised in the 58th minute, and it was the same player who took advantage of an error in defence to grab a 72nd-minute winner.
A disappointed Johnson commented: “We started well with the goal but ultimately never really got to the level we wanted to be at, even in the first half. Credit to Harefield, who continued to turn us and ask us questions and got the goals they needed to turn the result around.”
