Police search for man who crashed into police cruiser, led officers on chase in Allegheny County
An arrest warrant has been issued after police say a man crashed into a cruiser at a McDonald’s in Bellevue then led officers on a chase.
A man is accused of crashing into a police cruiser at a McDonald’s in Bellevue on July 5 and leading officers on a chase, according to court documents.
On July 5, McDonald’s employees called 911 for a man who came through the drive-thru line three separate times and kept passing out.
When police arrived, they said Caidyn Smith smelled like marijuana and refused to provide his name.
Police said Smith then put his vehicle in reverse, nearly hitting an officer, and hit the cruiser.
Investigators said Smith then led officers on a chase down Ohio River Boulevard into Pittsburgh. Police lost sight of him but later found the empty rental vehicle.
On July 16, a police officer from Robinson recognized Smith through body-camera images.
There is currently a warrant out for his arrest.
