Children and families from the Reading Gurukulam Foundation recently cleaned up Stonecliffe Recreation Area in Reading.
The event was part of the foundation’s mission to help children develop character through selfless service, responsibility, teamwork, and respect for the environment, officials said. Young volunteers worked alongside parents to clean the park and demonstrate that meaningful community service begins at a young age.
“Service to the community is one of the best ways to build character,” said Dr. Manoj Singla, foundation president. “We hope these experiences inspire children to become responsible and compassionate citizens.”
The foundation is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing children with education in values, culture and community service through regular classes and volunteer activities.
