Life Plasma Blood Centers in Pottstown is conducting a blood drive to honor fallen Central Berks Regional police Officer Kristen Yeager.
The drive continues through Aug. 7 then resumes Aug. 10 to 14 at the Pottstown center, 223 Shoemaker Road, Suite 171D. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome, officials said.
Life Plasma staff will have a memorial event Aug. 12 at noon to commemorate Yeager’s life, service and lasting impact on the community. Members of the public are invited to attend the memorial or donate at any time during regular business hours throughout the campaign.

“Officer Yeager dedicated her life to protecting and serving others. We are asking the community to continue that legacy by taking a few minutes to give blood and help save the lives of local patients,” Nagesh Ramesh, Life Plasma Blood Centers president, said in the announcement of the drive. “One donation can reach as many as three people. Together, we can ensure that Officer Yeager’s courage, compassion and commitment to others continue to make a difference.”
On May 29, just before 8 p.m., Yeager, 42, was driving her police cruiser — lights flashing and sirens blaring — in response to a call. While eastbound on Route 73 in Earl Township her cruiser left the road and crashed into a tree, authorities said.
Yeager was thrown from the vehicle, suffering devastating blunt force injuries, authorities said. She was pronounced dead a short time later at Reading Hospital.
Yeager of Boyertown left behind her husband, Dustin, and their three children, Tanner, Conner and Carli.
Officials said all blood collected during the campaign will support local hospitals, helping ensure the gift given by a community member stays in the community and reaches local patients.
Donating blood takes about 10 minutes, they said, noting that those few minutes can make a lifesaving difference for trauma victims, mothers during childbirth, patients with chronic conditions and people undergoing complex surgeries.
For every completed blood donation during the memorial campaign, officials said, Life Plasma will make a financial contribution to Yeager’s family.
