Video captures moment tractor-trailer, SUV collide on Lebanon County road
SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Video captured the moment a tractor-trailer and SUV collided on a Swatara Township, Lebanon County, road Wednesday morning.
We’ve posted the crash video in the player above. The crash is shown twice, with the second time playing in slow motion.
The crash sent the tractor-trailer careening off Route 72 near Thompson Avenue, where it slammed into two garages (see video below). Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
Lancaster County has dispatched a structural collapse team to assist due to damage to the buildings. PSP, Swatara Township fire crews and fire police are all still at the scene.
Several parked vehicles were also hit and damaged.
Route 72 is closed in both directions between Mountville and Jonestown roads. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Pennsylvania State Police said the SUV failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Thompson Avenue and Route 72.
