READING, Pa.- Remnants of a shooting scene and car crash remain near Moss and Marion streets in Reading after a shooting happened in the area around 6:30 Tuesday evening.
“I’m in the yard, I’m cutting grass [and] I hear 6-7 shots,” says a man who lives in the area. “I look up the street, here comes a car full speed, like maybe he was running from them; I don’t know. Lost control [and] went right in here at the corner, hit a black pickup truck.”
People who live nearby say first responders were on scene very quickly.
“Officers arrived on location [and] they located one individual who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head,” says Reading Police Investigations Captain, Cheryl Pentheny. “A short time later, a second individual was located about a block away with a gunshot wound to the elbow.”
Police say both victims are men. One was reported to be in critical condition.
“The ambulance came, took him,” says the neighbor. “He was talking like mumbling and then they took him away and then cops roped everything off.”
Police say they’re talking to witnesses, gathering evidence and working to identify the shooter.
“We’ve been canvassing the area, seeing if anybody has seen anything,” says Pentheny. “Obviously sometimes people aren’t comfortable talking with the police out on the street, so if you have any information, please call in we can talk to you over the phone. You can remain anonymous.”
At this point no arrests have been made.
