SCRANTON — A 17-year-old boy from Wilkes-Barre was charged as an adult in a shooting that injured a 21-year-old man in Scranton on Tuesday.
Scranton police say they responded to shots fired in the 1800 block of Roselyn Street in the Hill section just after 3 a.m.
Officers located Ezekiel Soto, of Scranton, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Soto was transported to Geisinger Community Center in Scranton, where he underwent emergency surgery, police say.
An investigation by Scranton police detectives led to the arrest of Marquese Cortell Richardson Jr., 17, of South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, as the alleged shooter.
Richardson was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Christopher J. Szewczyk on charges of criminal attempt to commit criminal homicide, firearms not to be carried without a license, reckless endangerment and two counts of aggravated assault. Richardson remained jailed Wednesday at the Lackawanna County Prison for lack of $250,000 bail.
