After summer camp ends, kids will soon head back to class, so one business is helping them get ready for the new school year.
PPL workers spent time Wednesday packing boxes with school supplies for elementary-age students.
They filled them with pencils, notebooks and all the essentials — enough to make 2500 kits.
Volunteers say it makes the transition easier.
“So when you want to get to school, you want to start off the school year well,” said Damon Turbitt, volunteer/senior communications specialist at PPL Corp. “These supplies are just one way to break down a barrier and let these students focus on the school year ahead.”
PPL has been holding its “Backpack Builders” event each year for several years now.
The supplies packed Wednesday will be transferred into backpacks.
