ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Former William Allen basketball standout Tyrese Martin hosted a free basketball camp on Wednesday at the Canaries home court on 17th street.
Martin played most recently with the Philadelphia 76ers, but spent most of his three-year career with the Brooklyn Nets. This season he will be playing for FC Barcelona in Spain.
For now, Martin is helping to further the next generation of basketball stars.
“Means a lot to me, personally. Growing up, I didn’t have opportunities like this, myself, to attend to – to close to a professional basketball player who played at the highest level,” said Martin. “It means a lot to me to come into my community and pour into it, instill hope in these kids and just be there for support and things like that.”
He was aided by old Canaries coaches, including the legendary Doug Snyder.
