WEST PITTSTON — The West Pittston Historical Society (WPHS) has a big anniversary on the horizon and Mary Portelli, WPHS president, said the organization has an old-fashioned Pie & Ice Cream Social planned to celebrate the its 25th anniversary.
The event is slated for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the First United Methodist Church, 408 Wyoming Ave.
Attendees will be served a hearty slice of Braces Orchard pie along with ice cream from Ballyhoo for $5. Tickets will be available at the door.
As a part of the festivities, Portelli said there would be a large display of West Pittston memorabilia collected over the borough’s existence since 1857 is free of charge.
According to Portelli, many of the items that would be on display have never been exhibited by WPHS making this a great opportunity to see pieces of West Pittston’s history.
There is street parking as well as the church’s lot on Wyoming Ave., next to the Pastor’s house.
