Erie Mayor Joe Schember and his administration have presented the final city budget proposal of his eighth year as mayor.
It comes with potentially not only more increases to garbage and sewer fees, but also a hike in property taxes.

Mayor Schember shared the budget proposal with Erie City Council on Wednesday morning. In total, it amounts to a $110 million spending plan.

Schember said those increases would prevent them from using the city’s reserve funds to fill the gaps, or from cutting city programs and positions.
In total, adding just shy of $6 million to the balance. City council will now start to review the mayor’s proposal.
