David G. Watkins
OBITUARY
David G. Watkins, 76, of South Scranton, died Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Allied Services Hospice Center. His wife of 56 years is the former Shirley Ann Shoemaker.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Alfred and June Howe Watkins. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1967, he attended Mansfield University. Prior to retirement he was employed by Geisinger.
Dave was an avid sports fan enjoying the Yankees and Packers. Played Tavern League Baseball, touch football and was known as Davie the deer. Golf was his passion! Letters to the editor, history and politics filled his days. It was important to vote in every election. So, please vote this November in his memory.
Dave wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and actions during this difficult time.
Also surviving are son Ian and wife Tara, Scranton; Beloved dog Darcy, brother Terry Watkins; sisters Heather Fezuk, Lorna Watkins, Melissa Reviello; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter Melanie Watkins; brother Russell Watkins.
Funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton.
