ARCHBALD, Pa. — The washers and dryers are running through their cycles here at Bluestone Laundromat on Kennedy Drive in Archbald.
“One thing we know is that if someone is using a laundromat there is usually a reason,” said Frank Sorokach from the Bluestone Laundromat.
But the people here did not have to get their quarters ready for the machines.

Several groups came together to show some laundry love. The free laundry day was made possible through a partnership with Northeast PA AHEC, Marywood University, and United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA.
Cheyenne Geoardos says she was not expecting this act of kindness when she stepped inside the laundromat.
“We were going to use our last 20 dollars to wash our clothes, and it is a really big help because now we can go and buy our daughter diapers or whatever she may need, and we won’t have to stress about washing our clothes,” said Cheyenne Geoardos from Lackawanna County.
The organizations even provided everyone with detergent and other washing supplies.
Organizers say just one load of laundry to wash and dry will run people about five dollars. So for larger families, those costs add up.
“So if you think about someone who has 8 to 10 loads of laundry, if you have kids, you know the laundry piles up, and so that could be a 50-dollar trip when you go to the laundromat to get your laundry done,” said Sorokach.
As the clothes are folded and loaded up to take home, people here say this event is giving them peace of mind.
“I’m excited, and I am happy because the organization is helping, and we don’t have to stress, we don’t have to worry about it.”
