The officers and members of the Browndale Fire Company recognized James “Jim” Richards recently, honoring an extraordinary milestone — 50 years of dedicated volunteer service to the department and the residents of Browndale and the surrounding communities. A member of the Browndale Fire Company since 1976, Jim has served in numerous capacities, including chief and president, helping guide the department through generations of growth and change. Today, he continues to answer the call, often driving the department’s engine to emergency responses among the nearly 200 calls the company handles each year. Together with his brothers, Dave “Chico” Richards, who has served 57 years, and Bob Richards, who has served 53 years, along with fellow firefighter Jack Pevec, who has served 59 years, these four dedicated volunteers represent 219 years of combined service to the Browndale community.
