Berks County man arrested at New Jersey airport after fatal shooting
A Berks County man was arrested at a New Jersey airport Sunday night while attempting to board a flight to the Dominican Republic, hours after a fatal shooting in Pennsylvania.
Federico Perez Polanco is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of a 32-year-old man around 4 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Police said Perez Polanco fled to New Jersey after the shooting and booked a flight scheduled to depart that night.
A coordinated effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service, the TSA, and the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey led to his arrest.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or details about what led to the shooting.
