Amity TWP., Pa. – A Berks County home faced serious heat, smoke, and water damage following a house fire that occured on Monday afternoon.
The residential fire broke out on Monday around 1:30 p.m. at the 100 block of Indian Run Drive.
According to the Amity Twp. Deputy Fire Marshal, the homeowner wasn’t in the house when the fire started, but got an alert from his home security cameras of smoke.
The fire marshal says the owner called fire officials remotely, giving the firefighters a head start. This call prevented a total loss of the residence, officials say.
Fire officials say a dog was rescued from the home before emergency response teams arrived. No injuries have been reported.
Support was received from fire companies from three different counties due to the heat and a lack of nearby fire hydrants, authorities say.
The fire marshal says the fire was put under control within 20 minutes of dispatch.
The Red Cross has been contacted, and the resident is staying with family members who live in the area.
It is unknown what caused the fire.
