Whitehall man charged after alleged meat cleaver attack; 1 person injured
WHITEHALL, Pa. —
A man is facing several charges, including attempted criminal homicide, after police said he stabbed his neighbor with a meat cleaver in what he claims was retaliation for being bullied.

According to a criminal complaint, police were called to the 1400 block of Maple Drive in Whitehall on Aug. 2 before 8:30 p.m. following reports of a man who had been stabbed in the back of the neck.
When police arrived on the scene, they said the victim was found holding a napkin to the back of his neck. A meat cleaver was also found on the ground close to the victim.
Upon speaking with the victim and two other men who were home at the time, they said 36-year-old Rup Koirala, 36, “showed up … uninvited” as the three sat in the backyard.
The victim told police Koirala knew he was not welcome.
According to the complaint, Koirala went into the house and then emerged with a meat cleaver. He then swung the cleaver and struck the victim in the back of the neck, leaving a 4-inch gash.
Koirala was then said to have dropped the cleaver and left the scene.
The victim was taken to an area hospital. His current condition remains unknown.
The suspect was later arrested at a Radford Road apartment.
Koirala stated to police that he was “tired of being bullied,” leading him to pulling the meat cleaver.
He is now facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
