HANOVER TWP., Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police say a man stole a vehicle then led police on a pursuit on Route 22 in Northampton County.
Authorities are expected to file charges against Yasin Kennedy, 49, of Scranton, state police said in a news release.
Troopers tried to make a traffic stop on an SUV in the area of Route 22 eastbound in Hanover Township shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday after a stolen vehicle notification, state police said.
State police said the SUV failed to yield, and a pursuit began.
After traveling about eight miles, the SUV crashed into a wooded area after failing to negotiate the ramp onto Route 33 north from Route 22 east, according to state police.
State police said troopers then took Kennedy into custody without further incident. He was brought to Northampton County Jail.
