ALLENTOWN, Pa. — At Harrison Morton Middle School in Allentown, back to school came a little later for Alexis Stengel, her cousin Scott Pfeiffer and brother-in-law Ed Mlynek.
“We were the Three Musketeers, yeah,” said Stengel.
On Friday, those Musketeers are a little older, gathering with 57 other former classmates to pore over pictures, sign the welcome banner, and to check out the trophy cases, hoping to spot memories long forgotten.
“Suddenly we see people that we haven’t seen in 50, 60, years, and it seems like time has just stood still, and everything is great again,” said Stengel.
Stengel organized the nostalgia tour after hearing the Allentown School District is considering building new schools.
So she and her fellow students wanted to visit their junior high school haunt one more time, just in case.
Harrison Morton Principal Spencer Cameron says he was glad to host the alumni roughly a week before students return to class.
“This this really is such a family community, and to see everybody kind of come out in droves to kind of support something that they love and care about so much is really special,’ said Cameron.
Pfeiffer says he’s glad he did.
“A lot of people we grew up with, are no longer With us anymore, so it’s a good thing seeing the ones that are still kicking,” said Pfeiffer.
And what would a reunion be without a class photo? Pictures were taken in the auditorium and the gym, once photographers could get the group to stop laughing and sharing stories.
It was a day full of moments.
For the Three Musketeers, a time to reflect on how things have changed.
“We’re making memories now,” said Stengel.
And yet, how they remain the same.
“You feel like you’re young again, ” said Pfeiffer.
