Judith Ruddy
OBITUARY
Judith Ruddy, 88, a resident of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center passed away on August 11. She was the widow of Jerome F. Ruddy who died on July 30, 2025.
Born in the Providence Section of North Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Robbins Payne, she was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School. A Devoted wife, mother, and friend, Judy was employed at numerous businesses throughout her life. She retired in 1996 after the passing of her son Jerome, and fully enjoyed her time with her family. She loved her lunch dates with her girlfriends, and her shopping days at Boscov’s. The family would like to thank the staff at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center for her exceptional care, with special thanks offered to Erica, Maria, Tammy, and Yvonne.
Surviving are son, Anthony Ruddy and partner Jennifer Churla, Scranton, daughters, Mary Catherine Ruddy, Scranton, Janet Ruddy, Dunmore, grandchildren Jerome, Joshua, Jordan, Alexandra, Harry, and Joseph; great-grandchildren Moira, Aliya, Lily, Lucille, Beau, Scout, Sutton, Grayson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Jerome P. Ruddy; grandson Jacob Ruddy, siblings Lucille, Anthony, James, and William.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
