After a walkthrough yesterday, the Pittsburgh Steelers put on pads for their penultimate public practice at Saint Vincent College. As has been the case over the last several practices, the Steelers remained without several contributors.
CBs Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Kent, as well as DB Jalen Ramsey, remain on PUP. Nobody in that trio has practiced during training camp, and it seems unlikely that they will. WRs Michael Pittman Jr. and DK Metcalf also did not practice after both got banged up in last week’s Saturday night practice. Pittman is dealing with a lower-body injury while Metcalf’s injury is undisclosed.
Pittman and Kent were rehabbing together on the far field, per Alex Kozora. That suggests both could be close to returning. Kent has worked out off to the side for most of camp, and it’s good news to see Pittman joining him.
Donte Kent and Michael Pittman Jr. doing some rehab work on the far field. Light stretching to begin. That’s good for Pittman, who appears to be working his way back. #Steelers

Ramsey and Porter also worked off to the side, running and cutting at “near full speed,” per Kozora. Ramsey did more rehab than Porter, who left practice early to head back to the facility.
More spirited work for DBs Jalen Ramsey and Joey Porter Jr. Still on PUP but near full speed running and cutting in work off to the side. #Steelers

WR Brandon Smith remained out after getting banged up in the preseason opener. He walked down to the practice field in the middle of the session with a sleeve on his leg.

OT Max Iheanachor didn’t return to practice today, nor did DL Sebastian Joseph-Day. Those two have missed the last several practices, as has CB Brandin Echols. Echols suffered a foot/ankle injury the same day Iheanachor injured his shoulder in practice, and the two have been sidelined ever since.
S Israel Mukuamu also did not practice after he got injured during practice yesterday. Meanwhile, WR Kaden Wetjen returned to practice after exiting the practice field early on Saturday.
Trainers evaluated rookie OL Gennings Dunker toward the end of Sunday’s practice. Dunker had a solid preseason debut, but he’s mostly worked with the third-team offensive line during training camp. Still, he was expected to be a key depth piece for the Steelers, and his status will be worth monitoring depending on the nature of his injury.
Pittsburgh’s final public practice is tomorrow, and the team will break camp on Tuesday before hosting the New York Jets for their second preseason game on Friday.
