OHIO COUNTY, W. Va. — Families filled Bethlehem Community Park on Sunday morning for a full day of fitness, food, music and family-friendly fun during the annual Caleb Smail Human Kindness Project.
The event is held to celebrate kindness and community connection, with activities planned throughout the day.
“I’m hoping that they’ll understand that the reason I’m doing this to number one honor my son, that was my promise to him. And the second is we’re trying to promote kindness and that there are ways to help people in the community and to have a good time,” said Beth Kennedy, Caleb’s mother.
Attendees also had the chance to join a high-payout 50-50 raffle and a large Chinese auction featuring family-friendly prizes, gift baskets and local experiences. A lineup of regional food trucks was also on site, giving families plenty of options to eat while enjoying the festivities.
Organizers said the annual event is designed to bring the community together while celebrating the spirit of human kindness.
