Angelina “Julie” Parlopiano, 93, Scranton, died Monday morning in Marywood Heights. She was the wife of the late Sam P. Parlopiano, Sr. who died in 1998.

Born in Utica, NY she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Olympia Gaetano Buccolo. She attended Utica public schools and Marywood Seminary. She and her parents relocated to Scranton, where her mother was from, when she was nine years old after a tragedy struck the family. Her four siblings, Mary, Prosper, Joseph, and Rose Marie had been killed in an automobile that was struck by a train and became a national story at that time. Later in life she and her husband owned and operated The Victory Restaurant on Mulberry Street in Scranton, for many years.

Mama, as she was known to almost everyone she came into contact with, will be remembered as a loving woman who cared greatly for her entire family. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her friends and family. She will be missed more than words can express.

Surviving is a daughter, Joanne Tulaney and her husband Joseph, Scranton, two sons, Sam Parlopiano, Jr. and his wife Trish, Newton Ransom, and Tony Parlopiano, Clarks Summit, five grandchildren, Angel Parlopiano, Sammy Parlopiano III and his wife Lindsey, Mario Parlopiano, Danielle Demeck and her husband Bobby, and Marissa Langan and her husband Matt as well as five great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 12PM in St. Patrick’s Church, Jackson Street in West Scranton. Friends may visit at the church from 10AM until the time of mass. Entombment to follow in the Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street in West Scranton.
