Youngsville, PA — The Youngsville community is mourning after a late Sunday night fire at the Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Park claimed the lives of two young children and left an infant in critical condition.
The Warren County coroner confirmed the deaths following the fire, which brought multiple fire departments and emergency responders to the scene shortly before 11:30PM Sunday, August 16th.
Two adults and an infant were able to escape the home. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, a 1-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were pronounced dead inside the residence.
The infant was taken to Pittsburgh for treatment and remains in critical condition.
The tragedy is being felt throughout the Youngsville community, including at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, where Assistant Pastor Eric Brown said the church is working to support the family.
“It’s a close-knit community, so when something like this happens, everyone is feeling it,” Brown said. “We just want to stand beside them and make sure that they feel loved more than anything right now.”
Brown said the church has shared a GoFundMe set up by family members and is also accepting donations for the family.
“I know that the family has a GoFundMe page, and we posted that on our Facebook page too,” Brown said. “If anyone has any monetary donations or any other donations that they would like to give to the family, they can bring them here to the church and we will get everything over to them.”
In addition to the loss of the two young children, the family’s home was also destroyed in the fire.
Tia, one of the owners of Pleasant Valley MHP, contacted Erie News Now and said the mobile home park will assist the family with dumpster and cleanup expenses. She said the owners are deeply saddened by the tragedy.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
