A Scranton man accused of breaking into an apartment at Ridge Run Manor Dunmore Sunday, threatened the family of the officers arresting him, according to a criminal complaint.
Terrance Leland-Credle faces a felony charge of burglary, in addition to misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, making terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct.
According to the complaint, at about 9 p.m., officers responded to apartment 201 on a report of a break-in.
Shameeka Thompson, told officers Leland-Credle, an acquaintance who she had been seeing “on and off,” banged on her door, shattered the glass window, reached inside, unlocked it and then entered her apartment.
Fearing for her safety, Thompson locked herself in her bedroom and contacted police. Leland-Credle fled.
Responding officers soon found him nearby. After he repeatedly ignored directives to stop, Officer Corey Sohns drew a taser. Leland-Credle complied and was taken into custody.
While being transported to police headquarters and inside his holding cell, he threatened to locate and break into the homes of the arresting officers’ families and to sexually assault a family member, according to the complaint.
Thompson told officers she had been seeing Leland-Credle for about two months, but felt he had recently been harassing her. When he showed up at her front door intoxicated, she told him to calm down so they could talk, but instead he broke in to her apartment.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 26 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
