The case began when Oscar Castillo-Peralta, 54, of Pleasantville, NJ, started chatting on a social media app with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl on Jan. 30, 2025, authorities said. Bensalem police previously identified the app as KIK.

The pair exchanged phone numbers and continued communicating by text, with the conversations becoming sexual over the following weeks, investigators said.

Castillo-Peralta sent nude photographs of himself and described sexual acts he wanted to perform with the girl, according to authorities.

He then agreed to drive from his home in New Jersey to meet her at a Bensalem Township home while her mother was supposedly away on Feb. 19, 2025, investigators said.

Castillo-Peralta told the girl he would pose as a door-to-door religious solicitor and knock on neighbors’ doors first so no one would question why he was in the neighborhood, authorities said.

He arrived at the Bensalem home at 1:30 p.m. wearing a suit and carrying religious materials, but police were waiting and took him into custody.

“Online predators who attempt to exploit our children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” District Attorney Joe Khan said. “Thanks to the work of the Bensalem Township Police Department and our prosecution team, this offender is being held fully accountable and will spend years behind bars where he belongs.”

Castillo-Peralta pleaded guilty in April to attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and related offenses, the DA’s office said.

He was sentenced to five to 10 years in state prison by Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Stephen A. Corr on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Corr also ordered Castillo-Peralta to undergo sex offender treatment while incarcerated.

The case was investigated by the Bensalem Township Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Kristin McElroy.
