It was move-in day across Erie as students and their families arrived at Penn State Behrend and Gannon University, marking the start of a new academic year.
At Penn State Behrend, campus officials welcomed 76 new first-year students. Welcome Week teams lined sidewalks and residence hall entrances, helping families unload vehicles, carry belongings, and guide students through the check-in process.
Across town at Gannon University, more than 600 freshmen moved into residence halls throughout the morning. Volunteers were on hand to assist students with their belongings, answer questions, and help make the transition to college life as smooth as possible.
Move-in day is often considered one of the biggest milestones for incoming students, as they prepare to begin classes, meet new friends, and settle into campus life.
At both universities, staff members and volunteers worked to create a welcoming atmosphere, helping students and their families feel comfortable from the moment they arrived. Their efforts aimed to reduce the stress that can come with moving into a new environment and ensure students started the semester on a positive note.
With move-in now complete, students at both campuses will spend the coming days participating in orientation activities and welcome events before the fall semester gets underway.
