CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Pennsylvania State Police have identified a Florida man who was killed Thursday evening in a head-on collision along Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township, Centre County.
Investigators say 64-year-old Mark Erwin, of Englewood, Florida, was killed when he reportedly attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle while traveling westbound along Route 322.
According to the crash report, police say Erwin’s minivan collided head-on with pickup truck, which was towing a trailer, driven by a 26-year-old Minnesota man.
Authorities say Mr. Erwin was pronounced dead on scene while the driver of the pickup truck was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
Troopers note that the driver of the pickup, though he is not believed to be at fault, was also given a blood draw due to suspicion of DUI.
