Carol A. Trapper
OBITUARY
Carol A. Trapper, 87, of Moosic, PA, passed away August 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife for over 59 years to Donald A. Trapper, who preceded her in death in 2019.
Born in Long Island, NY to the late Matthew and Mary Grambo Newland. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Assumption High School in South Scranton. Carol was an active member of her church community, both St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church until it’s closing and then Divine Mercy Parish.
Carol was extremely proud of being the first female Rotarian of the Scranton Rotary Club and the Rotary District 741 of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Always desiring to be helpful to those less fortunate, she gained great fulfilment in assisting with the Up with People Foundation’s campaign and Polio Plus, part of UNICEF’s polio eradication program. Also, Carol was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.
Most importantly, she was proud of her family and was always present at her children’s and grandchildren’s plays, concerts, sporting events and graduation ceremonies. Her most enjoyable moments were spent with her family at holiday dinners and the annual summer vacation to Ocean City, NJ.
Surviving are her children, Karen Cardone (Michael), Dunmore, Kevin M. Trapper, North Wales, and Donna E. Notari (Kenneth), Jefferson Township along with grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hock (Mitchell), Emily Raufi (Nikolas) and Chase Notari (Kailey) and great grandchildren Kinlee, Sophia, and Kallie. Additionally, Carols sister Jane Woelkers, sisters-in-law Sally Nealon and Gail Trapper along with her brother-in-law Michael Trapper and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Carol in death in addition to her husband were her parents, brothers-in-law Robert Woelkers, Paul Nealon, Herbert Trapper, Jr., and sister-in-law JoAnne Trapper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 24th, at 10:00 AM in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, by Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J. Pastor. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, 1708 Oram Street, Scranton.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM at August J. Haas Funeral Home, 202 Pittston Avenue, Scranton.
