Firefighters quickly contained a smoky fire Thursday afternoon at a Bethlehem Township store.

Township firefighters were dispatched about 2:15 p.m. to Heights Market & Deli at 10th Street and Freemansburg Avenue for an automatic fire alarm, according to a social media post by Nancy Run Fire Company.

Upon arrival, fire crews saw smoke coming from the building’s basement, officials said.

Crews worked about 90 minutes before declaring the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

The social media post ended with this: “Let this serve as a reminder that working smoke detectors save lives. Check yours regularly to make sure they’re functioning — early detection makes all the difference.”
