ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The GIANT Company will open a new, larger location in the South Mall Shopping Center later this month, the company announced Thursday.
The 68,000-square-foot store at 3300 Lehigh St. will open Nov. 21 at 8 a.m., replacing the current GIANT at 3015 West Emmaus Ave., which will close Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
The new store will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will include an expanded selection of products and services, as well as a larger on-site fuel station.
“At GIANT, exceeding the expectations of our loyal customers is at the forefront of everything we do, and it starts with accommodating their changing grocery needs,” John Ruane, president of The GIANT Company, said in a statement. “Our new store in Salisbury Township is bigger and offers a wider product assortment that enhances the overall shopping experience for our customers, while continuing to showcase what we’re known for — delivering value, freshness and kindness.”
The opening will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony the morning of Nov. 21. The first 200 customers in line will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with product samples and promotional offers.
Store manager Mike Ramos, who has worked in grocery retail for 18 years, will continue in his role at the new location. Ramos said his team is eager to welcome shoppers ahead of the holiday season. The store will also bring more than 75 new full- and part-time jobs to the area.
Salisbury Township shoppers can expect an expanded produce department with additional organic offerings, full-service meat and seafood counters, bakery and floral services, a specialty cheese case, and a hot food bar featuring smoked and barbecue items. The store will also include an in-store sushi chef, a larger beer and wine section, and a pharmacy.
For customers using GIANT Direct online ordering, the new site will offer twice as many pickup spaces. The fuel station will include 10 pumps, increasing capacity for drivers who participate in GIANT’s fuel savings program.
