Police identified a woman accused of shooting and killing another woman and injuring a man in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.
Lacole Diane Dotson, 27, of Freemansburg, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 6 a.m., police responded to a home on Market Street in Freemansburg for a 911 call. When they arrived, they found Atirah Steed, 27, of Freemansburg, and a 45-year-old man who were both suffering from gunshot wounds inside the living room of the home.
Steed was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead about an hour later at 7:16 a.m. An autopsy on Monday, Aug. 24, revealed she died from multiple gunshot wounds and her death was ruled a homicide.
The 45-year-old man remains hospitalized. Officials have not yet revealed his condition.
Police identified Dotson as the suspect in the double shooting. She is in custody at Northampton County Prison after her bail was denied.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2026. Online court records don’t show legal representation who could speak on her behalf.
Police also have not revealed a possible motive in the shooting.
