Fall raffle fundraiser: Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St., fall raffle fundraiser is taking place. Prizes include a 65-inch smart TV, 24-26” mountain bike, homemade Christmas afghan, chocolate lover’s dream basket and more. Tickets are $6/sheet with 10 tickets per sheet, or two sheets/$10. You don’t need to be present to win. Tickets can be purchased at the church weekdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Drawing date is Oct. 4.

Collection: Dunmore Lions Club members will be collecting donations at the Dunmore vs. Wyoming Area game on Friday at Dunmore High School at both gates entering the stadium.

Lackawanna County

Rail Fest: Steamtown National Historic Site will celebrate Railfest 2026 Sept. 4-6, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The park’s premier annual celebration features three days of historic train rides, visiting railroad equipment, locomotive shop demonstrations, exhibits, music, ranger programs, hands-on activities and displays from community and railroad partners. General admission to the park and Railfest is free. This year’s Railfest marks national and local milestones: the 200th anniversary of railroading in the United States, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the 110th anniversary of the National Park Service and the 40th anniversary of Steamtown’s enabling legislation. An opening ceremony will be held Sept. 4 at 10:30 a.m. Railfest once again coincides with La Festa Italiana in downtown Scranton and special programming at the neighboring Electric City Trolley Museum. A free COLTS shuttle will connect Steamtown and La Festa Italiana approximately every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. General admission and parking at Steamtown NHS are free. Fees apply for train rides and some special activities. Some advance train tickets will be available through Recreation.gov beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a limited number available for walk-up purchase during Railfest. Marriage license evening hours: The Lackawanna County Marriage License Bureau, 123 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, will hold evening hours Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. Apply online at lackawannacounty.org or call 570-963-6702 to make an appointment. No walk-ins accepted. The fee is $70, made by cash, check, money order, credit or debit card. Checks can be made payable to “Marriage License Bureau.” The bureau will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month through October. The office is also open on those dates for those wishing to obtain a certified copy of a marriage license for Real ID purposes.

Wayne County

Apple workshop: Penn State Extension Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers will hold a workshop on growing and preserving apples, Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Wayne County extension office, Park Street Complex, 648 Park St., Suite E, Honesdale. Ashley Sexton, Wayne County master gardener coordinator, will discuss apple varieties best suited for preserving.
