CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on mail-in voting is being closely monitored by state and county election officials — especially with the November general election quickly approaching.
We asked the Centre County commissioners if they were nervous about the highest court in the land weighing in on an election issue with just over two months until the November election.
“Our election process is more of a ship turning slowly rather than a go-kart spinning off on its axis. We require a lot of heads up, a lot of forward planning.”
The Supreme Court ruling deals with mail-in ballots and is a victory for President Trump’s attempts to limit such voting, but it’s a preliminary ruling and on Tuesday, we were told that county officials are proceeding with the established plan for the November election.
“This decision sets up a new round of litigation; as you said, near to our November election, which will play out over weeks to months and does not, at this time, change voters’ access to vote by mail in Pennsylvania or any other state.”
The general election is set for Tuesday, November 3rd.
