LOWER MERION — Lower Merion School District officials Wednesday afternoon reported that Jennifer Rivera has tendered her resignation as a school board director effective Aug. 25.
Rivera, 41, of the 100 block of Leland Road in Bala Cynwyd, has been a member of the Lower Merion Board of School Directors since late last year.
She was arrested on Aug. 24 after turning herself in to the Lower Merion Police, facing charges in the alleged theft of $50,243 from her former employer, SMB Team, a law firm marketing agency in Bala Cynwyd.
She has been charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and access device fraud in the alleged crimes that occurred from 2024 into 2026.
Following arraignment, Rivera was released on $25,000 unsecured bail. She is currently scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2.
The board plans to vote on accepting Rivera’s resignation at a special meeting Sept. 14 at 5:45 p.m.
District officials said they would provide additional information about the process to fill the vacancy in a timely manner, in compliance with the Public School Code.
