ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh County Board of Commissioners received an update on a proposed data center Wednesday night at the government center.
Chairman Geoff Brace noted during a review that he had explored with the county’s law department the board’s options to become an interested party to a data center proposed at 1024 N. Bradford St.
Frank Kane, Allentown’s managing director, told 69 News the address for the latest proposal is 1024 N. Bradford Street, adjacent to Coca-Cola Park.
Brace said data center approvals are the domain of municipal government and not county government. In this case, though, the proposed data center is in proximity to Coca-Cola Park, in which the county has a direct interest.
Developer J.G. Petrucci applied to the City of Allentown to construct a 146,000-square-foot data center earlier this month.
911 Center
The board approved amending the 2026-30 Lehigh County capital plan to replace and purchase the 911 Center generator.
The county’s department of general services wants to replace the center’s outdated generator systems with two natural gas-powered generators. The funds for the project will be appropriated from the 911 fund balance.
The deal is worth nearly $1.8 million.
Remembering Jim Martin
Brace formally recognized the passing of former Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin.
Commissioners Phil Armstrong, Antonia Pineda and Brace all made comments attesting to his accomplishments and importance to the district attorney’s office and Lehigh County.
Martin was 81.
