Severe thunderstorm warning issued in Westmoreland County on Thursday

PITTSBURGH —

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in Westmoreland County on Thursday.

The warning is in effect for central Westmoreland County until 5:15 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm was located over Youngwood, or near Jeannette, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include… Greensburg, Jeannette, Youngwood, Penn, Arona, Adamsburg and Grapeville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail.
