An Erie tradition of reclaiming homicide scenes for peace continued today, as nuns and community members gathered to support the loved ones of the city’s latest homicide victim.
Deb Seng with the Sisters of Saint Joseph says 61-year-old Frederick Torrence lost his life in July after being shot in the arm and chest. His car later crashed near Pulaski Park.
The Benedictine Sisters say the gathering is about more than remembering Torrence. It’s about reclaiming a place marked by tragedy and transforming it into a space for healing, peace and community support.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting. Police say 22-year-old Jewels Johnson and 20-year-old Jaylin Daniels were arrested following a two-week investigation into Torrence’s death on July 7.
