More than 120 students from Eagles Nest School of Academic Distinction spent the day learning and celebrating their community as part of a special Spirit of Erie Day hosted by the Erie Regional Chamber in collaboration with Scott Enterprises at Splash Lagoon.
The event combined education and entertainment, giving students an opportunity to engage with local business leaders while enjoying one of Erie County’s most popular attractions. Before heading into the waterpark, students participated in an educational presentation from Scott Enterprises designed to introduce them to local businesses and the opportunities available within the Erie community.
Spirit of Erie Day is part of the Spirit of Erie, the Erie Regional Chamber’s signature community celebration. This year, the initiative has expanded into a weeklong series of events that recognize the organizations, individuals, and causes that contribute to Erie’s growth and success.
“The Spirit of Erie is about celebrating our community, and that celebration should include our youth,” said Brandon Mendoza, President and CEO of the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. “We’re proud to bring Spirit of Erie into the community and create opportunities for students to learn, connect, and experience what our city has to offer. We hope these students leave knowing they are valued, and have an important place in the future of our community.”
Organizers said the event was created to foster community engagement and inspire local students by connecting them with businesses and experiences that showcase the region’s strengths. The partnership with Scott Enterprises and Splash Lagoon provided a unique setting to blend educational opportunities with a day of fun and recreation.
Spirit of Erie Day at Splash Lagoon serves as the kickoff to Spirit of Erie Week, a series of community-focused celebrations leading up to the annual Spirit of Erie Awards Banquet, scheduled for Sept. 10 at the Bayfront Convention Center.
Throughout the week, the Erie Regional Chamber will host events highlighting the people and organizations that help make Erie a vibrant and thriving community, while encouraging residents to take pride in the region and invest in its future.
