Community center celebrates LGBTQ+ pride with families, artists, and vendors | Bethlehem Area

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center hosted its annual Pride celebration at SteelStacks Sunday.

The event brought together vendors, performers, artists and members of the LGBTQ+ community for a day focused on celebration, connection and visibility.

For Terry Stamm, attending the event is an opportunity to spend time with family and experience the sense of community that Pride offers.

“It’s always great to see the community out, helping, enjoying, involving,” Stamm said. This year marks Stamm’s third time attending the celebration. He said the event gives people an opportunity to meet others and feel comfortable being themselves.

Organizers said Pride is about more than a single day of festivities.

“Pride is all year. It’s about celebrating yourself as well as the community and family and friends or chosen family around you,” said Jewelyn Butron, a marketing and communications specialist with the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.

Butron said the celebration also serves as a reminder of the importance of visibility and community.

“It is a reminder to show up because we are people and we can coexist too,” she said. “So, it’s just witnessing each other and celebrating our community.”

The Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center plans to continue its Pride programming in the Lehigh Valley, with another celebration in the works for next year.
