Two residents were taken to a hospital early Monday after a house fire in Upper Darby.
Township fire stations were dispatched at 2:22 a.m. to the 100 block of Alverstone Road in the Primos section for a residential dwelling fire.
Upper Darby Assistant Fire Chief Robert Callahan said two adult residents self-evacuated and were taken for evaluation of smoke inhalation.
The fire was reported in the basement with some extension to the first floor of the two-story end-of-the-row residence.
Callahan said crews were quickly able to bring the fire under control.

The call brought a response from all township fire stations as well as neighboring departments.
Crews placed a ladder to the rear of the home and removed windows to clear out the smoke as a handline was taken in the front door. An additional hose line was taken in through the basement garage area to exstingush the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
