The Duryea Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred shortly after midnight on Oct. 9 in the area of Evans Street and Mead Street.
Police said a white pickup truck towing a car carrier trailer loaded with two vehicles struck a parked car on Evans Street causing minor damage to a vehicle and fled the scene.
The fleeing vehicle continued onto Cherry Street where it struck a telephone pole. The impact caused the trailer to overturn and detach from the pickup in the area of Phoenix Street, police said.
The driver then fled on Phoenix Street toward Foote Avenue, leaving behind the overturned car carrier and the two vehicles that had been secured to it, police said.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and actively working to identify the operator of the truck as well as the owner
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has surveillance footage of the fleeing vehicle is asked to contact the Duryea Police Department at 570-457-1721.
