LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Chobani plans to invest $1.2 billion to establish a dairy product manufacturing operation in Lehigh County. Officials say it’s the largest private investment in Pennsylvania agriculture history.
The facility is expected to create 900 full-time jobs and expand markets and opportunities for over 4,000 Pennsylvania dairy farmers, according to the state Department of Agriculture.
Chobani plans to take over the facility and equipment that was formerly used by Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) at 7356 Industrial Boulevard in Upper Macungie Township.
The Department of Agriculture estimates this move will create the largest increase in demand for Pennsylvania dairy in the state’s history.
“Pennsylvania is aggressively competing for — and winning — the biggest economic development projects in the country because we’re making strategic investments, moving at the speed of business, and giving companies confidence that they will thrive here,” Gov. Josh Shapiro said in a release.
