Pittsburgh Police: 11 dogs, cat removed from house in ‘deplorable condition’
PITTSBURGH —
A dozen animals were removed from a Pittsburgh home described as being “in deplorable condition” Wednesday afternoon.
Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, showed video of the police activity on Barr Avenue in the city’s Westwood neighborhood.
Eleven dogs and a cat were removed from the house and taken to Humane Animal Rescue, a Pittsburgh police spokesperson said. Three dead dogs were also found inside, officials said.

Police and Animal Care & Control officers made entry to the home and removed the animals after complaints from the community, public safety officials said.
“It is unclear at this time whether the property is occupied or abandoned, but it is in deplorable condition inside,” the statement said.
Neighbors told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reporter Jordan Cioppa that they have seen people going in and out of the house as recently as a few weeks ago.
No arrests were made as the investigation continued Wednesday.
