Carolyn (Bonnie) Evans
OBITUARY
Carolyn (Bonnie) Evans died August 30, 2026 at age 87.
Born and raised in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Brzuchalski) Hodorowski.
Carolyn was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Education from Marywood College. After teaching in Scranton, she married David Evans and moved to New Jersey, where they started and raised their family. Bonnie continued to teach the sciences until retirement when she relocated to Honesdale.
She was a faithful member of Saint John The Evangelist parish, Honesdale, and a member of the choir.
A gardener and artist since childhood, her extensive gardens were on the local hospital benefit garden tour several times, and her studio on the WCAA artists’ open studio tour as well.
Bonnie is survived by her son Michael and his wife, Christine, daughter Aimee and husband, Randall Derouin, grandchildren Matthew Evans and wife, Tori and Annalee Ruffalo and husband, William, as well as great grandchildren Jesse Evans and River and Reagan Ruffalo.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Lenore and Edwina Hodorowski, and her former husband, David Evans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 4th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, on Thursday, 4 to 7.
